Bird on a Wire

So much is happening
below its beak.

A rain filled puddle, 

a boy
launching a paper boat,

incense smoke
curling around 
a turmeric-smeared idol,

yellow laddus
glowing on a steel tray,

a turbaned old man
drawing on his hookah,

a black stray dog
watching the panipuri seller.

The bird remains
on the wire.

The day keeps unfolding.
